My first loss

I was having a very good month. I found out I was pregnant and we both were extremely excited to bring forth a little bundle of joy. I told very few friends about our good news. I was 7 weeks along and getting closer to the start of my second trimester (when most of the danger of loosing the child has passed.) We were planning to be wed later in the month by a justice of the peace so that the baby would share our last name. My fiance and I's relationship had been a little strained due to my own jealously and his meandering, but this little miracle helped us refocus on what we both thought was important and were able to move on beyond the mist

Sorry for the late reply - we have been on the road to Spain with no internet...
Just in case you didn't solve the crossword clue introducing the Hawaiian Goose it's also the Nene (pronounced Nay-nay for the bird and rhyming with either 'hen' or 'seen' depending where you live for the river part of the clue)
